I'm a AE guy and the patinas on these are awesome! Thank you for hosting this game and thank you for your generosity.
Wow Kasia thank you! It is so kind of you, and of course thank you Curtisimo so much for hosting this giveaway! I love LRB'S! PM incoming. Thanks, Jacob
My pleasure Jacob. I am glad it will be going to an appreciative home. We still have 3 prize coins left to give out @chrsmat71 it's your turn to choose your prize coin!
Wow, I won...that's awesome! I forgot there was a give away..and don't understand how calculations behind how I did it...but Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Cool idea for a contest @Curtisimo and some cool coins there that you are giving away. Is it my pick? I want that Philip I ant, I'll send you who gets it via PM.
Cool contest, and that's a great GIF in the intro, as mentioned. Had I not been so distracted and in "too lazy to read everything" mode, I might've been a more attentive player! Congrats to the winners.
@chrsmat71 has generously decided to gift the Phillip I antoninianus to... *drum roll*... @LaCointessa Congrats! LaCointessa PM me your shipping address and I'll get the coin to you ASAP. Next Up @Johndakerftw has elected to gift her pick to @randygeki Congrats Randy! You have the following two coins to choose from. B. Roman Empire – Claudius II Gothicus AE Antoninianus, AD 269-270 (21.42 mm, 3.53 g) C. Northern Song – Emperor Shenzong, AE 2 Cash, AD 1068-1085 (30 mm, 6.74g)
Wow @Curtisimo ! @chrsmat71, All I can say is: Hannibal crossed the Alps, but I can't get over your generosity! Thank you Chris! As I explained in a little message I sent to you, this coin fits nicely into my collection because while I already have a Phillip, the one I have has an AEQUITUS AGG reverse. I tried to explain in my message to you that I suspected the obverse of this prize coin and the obverse of the Phillip already in my collection (which Victor Clark gave me) were minted with the same exact die and that I suspect my attribution of the Phillip I have as Phillip II is incorrect. I need to attribute the coin I have all over again. Thank you again, Chris. Yaaaaay!
I am just NOW understanding how the contest worked. Duh! So the person who played every round, selected all the right coin owners and posted coins could still lose to a contestant who played only one round, selected the wrong owner and did not post a coin. That is why @TypeCoin971793 doesn’t get a prize and why @Johndakerftw and @chrsmat71 did! Okydoky. I’ve got it now for next time. (I should have gone for that PhD in statistics.)
The drawing was random for each round and anyone who guessed got at least one chance to win per round. However the people who posted coins, interesting comments and correct answers got MORE that one chance to win per round. Then the final scores (correct answers + chances earned as a tie breaker) were used to see which of the winners chose first for the prizes. Using this method meant that newer members still had a chance to win a coin even if they didn't earn as many chances
Yep! Got it @Curtisimo. Not only was the idea of the design of the contest itself amazingly unique, the design of the process for the selection of the winners was also exceptionally creative - not to mention labor intensive. Even moreso than I had thought! Incredible. Really.
Sweet! Sorry was at work and missed this. Thanks @Johndakerftw ! umm I guess C. Northern Song – Emperor Shenzong, I don't have many coins from Asia. Thanks! edit: Unless you'd rather have it more than I @TJC
Congrats Randy! Please PM me your shipping address and I will get the Song Dynasty coin headed your way (unless something gets worked out with TJC before I send it). @TJC congratulations on being our final winner. Please send me your shipping address and I will get your prize headed your way too. Note: I have mailed out 3 of the 6 prizes so far. Once I get everyone's info I will send the final 3 ASAP. When your packages arrive please let me know!
Yes, and that is why a yn (Youngcoin) got 16 chances and he did not even get his name called. You tried to get as many chances as possible so that you had a better chance of getting randomly picked, but all 5 coins could have gone to five persons with one chance each, or one person with five chances could have randomly had their name called every time.
Yes, @Kasia. I did not understand exactly how that all worked at the time I was sniffing around for extra chances . When chrsmat71 was wondering out loud how in the world he ended up winning, I decided to go back and figure out how it happened (because honestly, i was pretty much clueless).
I can not wait until I’m on y’alls level of coin knowledge. I know I’m a little to old to be just picking coin collecting as a hobbie, but seeing how much all of you know makes me excited. What a fun contest, and thank you to the host. Also to see everyone so kind, and winners gifting their prize. I am just overwhelmed. Thank you and congrats to all the winners.
