the coin i ordered for my giftee hasn't come in yet. i ordered it a week ago, so should be in soon. i'll post after thanksgiving probably.
Well, I'm in the camp of waiting till Christmas eve. As a child I was so excited I could hardly sleep. So were my sons. We always open on Christmas eve after we go to church. Somehow, good ole Saint Nick would have made it to the house while we were out. I sure do miss those days with my sons. I'll wait!
I'll wait till Christmas Eve too, though I'm all for sending the gift out early (especially if you're sending overseas). I participated in the main board Secret Santa last year and received my gift close to the end of January. Yeah, so I was sitting under the Christmas tree waiting for that bloody thing a long time! Jokes aside, I'm still thankful to whoever my Santa was, but international postal services during the Christmas season can be awful. I'm only back in town tomorrow. With any luck I can have my gift out by Friday, and then it'll be onward to your new home, dear broken-in-half Tetricus I (or Victorinus) barbarous radiate!
Well, there is absolutely zero-chance of me waiting ... I'm already mad that my gift isn't here!! (Christmas is only a month away => chop-chop!!) Whatev ... again, I'm obviously kidding ... I don't really care if and when my gift arrives (I've already given my gift and that's what it's all about, my friends)
I was going to wait till Christmas Eve to open my present, but the pony express delivered yesterday and I believe the inscriptions on the package enjoined me to wait till December 17th, so December 17th it will be! I only saw the envelope for something like half a minute, after which my wife squirreled it away from my sight. It's like she doesn't trust my self-control when it comes to coins? My package starts it journey to my giftee today. It's 8500 miles as the crow flies; it may take awhile, but I'm sure it'll be there in good time.
Well, I'm about 8,500 miles away from most of the folks on CT, so I guess I wasn't giving away much .
I didn't even dare to try and exchange gifts with people who collect ancients, but I really want to see what people got.
I am not a smart man. I received my Secret Santa gift and have not looked at the coins yet but I came very close. I noticed a package address to me and thought 'that is strange I haven't ordered anything' having completely forgotten that gifts were most likely on their way for Secret Santa. So, naturally I opened the package and it had the cardboard that usually holds coins and again thought 'did I impulse buy something and forget about it' and then 'why did they include a card, that is certainly strange'. The entire time not putting 2 and 2 together. It took me actually reading the card to realize that this was my Secret Santa gift. I put the coins aside to attempt to resist until another day but I expect I will give in this weekend.
How to open it while convincing yourself you're not doing it !!! Dr Freud : "we can talk about that, if only you wish to" Q
I sent my gift out a few weeks ago. However, I am still waiting on mine. Hopefully I'll be here in the next week or so. The waiting is the hard part.
I just received mine in today's mail...and I almost opened it until I noticed the "Secret Santa'' written on the envelope... I didn't think of doing the same so mine looks like a 'routine' small package and the recipient will probably receive it by today or tomorrow...OH well.... I'm not a clever Santa BTW: I wont open the gift until X-mas!!!
Thanks for the info .... but I'm gonna spin it the total opposite way => when the coins that I've splurged-on arrive at my house, I'm merely gonna tell my sweet wife "hey look Honey, one of my secret Santa gifts has arrived"
Maybe you guys should start asking the sellers & auction houses to mark the outside of ALL of your packages with "Free Gift", "Merry Christmas", or whatever might fit the season
