STEVEX6'S TWO-BIT MATH-ANALYSIS: a) Batman has his doubts about this coin b) the seller himself has doubts about this coin (no returns, buyer beware) c) as my good friend DVCollector once said to me => "Whenever there is any doubt, there is no doubt" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hnhvWKMqm4 ... QED
I gotta bail for the night ... => coin-on, brothers!!! :high5: ... but I left you guys (gals) with my favourite avatar ... Cheers!! (I love hanging-out with you guys!! ... thanks for putting-up with me!!) :headphones:
with the cracks on the side it seems like they added those in to make it look older maybe? that was a very good analyses of the authenticity of the coin!
FWIW, the item seems to have been taken down from eBay. The message says "This item is no longer available". I wonder if one of you guys made an offer to the seller or possibly reported it as fake?
Not I, but I doubt Ebay did anything. It's not like them. Perhaps the seller got wind of our discussion.
I suspect you are correct. I did not contact the seller, but I wouldn't be surprised, if he didn't take a look at our thread here. I see stuff like this all the time, we talk about a rare type of coin, or a "chase" coin and oddly enough with a few days there is a half dozen examples being sold a prices that border on extortion. Take the First Meris Tet, I posted it, made a big stink about it and the 5 examples that were listed for sale in the usual places all of a sudden produced several more in a variety of conditions ranging from $250 - $1750. As well as my "rare" Byzantine silver, there was only 2 for sale for like a year, I went on the computer and found like 6 recently added for sale. Very interesting.... Maybe if I sit here and go "Siculo Punic Horse Carthage Tetradrachm" someone will place one for sale in $200-$300 range. Come on seller, you got it and I want it.
