Many of you that follow my posts know I love chunky. I love the old Greek coins and a few of the Roman guys. :hail:

I challenge you all to tell me why I would buy a super tiny medieval Islam coin (that wasn't really cheap). I what about this coin makes it special? Why would I travel so far out of my collection sphere for a seemingly uninteresting tiny ragged Islamic coin? What is it? Where is it from? Why is it interesting? I will review to the answer to you all, but first I challenge you to tell me what's so special about this particular coin.

I welcome all guess and conjecture. Maybe one of the eastern collectors or numismatic pros will know the answer. Islam.jpg

I'm sorry. All I've got is mistress. I haven't studied Islamic coins. I find them boring. :yawning:

This kind of thing would be almost impossible to guess. I'll take a stab that the name of Jesus appears on this coin.

The coin features the name of someone who is considered a major prophet in the Koran.

    It reads:
Billah yathiqu Isa' wa bihi yantasir
Illah Muhammed rasul Allah al Amir Isa,
    which translates to:
In God trusts Jesus and through him Victorious
In God Mohamed is the messenger of Allah, Jesus

P.S. Interesting coin! I think I found your purchase point :)

The inscription reads "In God trusts Jesus and through him the victorious / In God Mohamed is the messenger of Allah, Jesus" in Arabic spread on both sides.
