Only the ladder struck me on this Roman coin. I don't remember having any in my collection so far. I tend to determine that Elagabalus is on the obverse of this bronze coin weighing 3.97 g. Please post a comment if you like. Thanks..

Nice coin Charles. I don't think I have ever seen a ladder on an ancient coin.

Looks like an Elagabalus issue from Charachmoba with the Altar of Dusares reverse.

Thank you. Charach-Moba or Karak Moba refers to a fortress-city of Moab which lay east of the Dead Sea in ancient Palestine. Only Elagabalus had issued coins from that city. The ladder leads possibly to a column which separates 2 sacred stones(Baetyls). Also possibly an altar. Wildwinds lists one unique example having Tyche on reverse. I shall make more researches. That's real fun.

I surprisingly found out that Charach-Moba is one of the Decapolis. As for Dusares or Dushares, well that was an Arabian or Nabataean god before Islam.
