Losing what? I'm not sure I ever had it to lose whatever it is.

RTS => hey, that's great that you've checked-out Doug's link (yes, he's very helpful) ... I'm sure it'll help you track-down some of the coin-ID's for your buddy.

=> I merely thought it might be useful to teach a man to fish, rather than to continually do the leg-work (you must know what I mean, being a teacher and all)

Anyway, I didn't mean rattle you ... I have no clue how many more of your threads are going to be coming down the pipe (or is it pike?), so again I was merely suggesting that you may want to try hunting a few down on your own? (but I didn't realize that your wife was pregnant and therefore you had no spare time ... congratulations, by the way)

Oh, and that was more of a shot at JA (he's only recently been selling ancient coins, but he's been very successful at it => I didn't want him getting a big-head because we were all recommending his fine services)
    ;)

Either way => good luck with your coin-sleuthing (your friend has some pretty sweet coins)

Thanks, Steve, I apologize for the outburst, perhaps it was in part due to my attempting to identify some on my own to no avail. I do certainly enjoy the history behind these great pieces, and there are some out of this group - and more I've seen doing my scattered research - which I would say I find more visually appealing than almost any modern coin I've ever come across.

Once I've become more familiar with the portraits, the rulers portrayed, and also the myriad other designs on these coins, I'm sure the research will become much easier. The only ancient ruler I'm at all familiar with is Claudius, and, even then, all my info on him comes from the Robert Graves book and nothing further.

Anyway, thanks once again, everyone, for all the indispensable help, and there will be more coming down the pike (that's the original idiom, both pike and pipe are used colloquially now) within the next day or two.
