They are not well studied and we don&#039;t know much about where they come from, how they were made or why they were made. In fact in many cases each of these could be different.</p><p><br /></p><p>Were they ancient counterfeits made to deceive? Were they local currency based loosely on Roman coins that were available to copy in the non-Roman world?
