A friend from another forum was selling off a couple of his bronze coins. So I dipped in to the piggy bank a little bit and bought two coins from him. Here is the first one and the one I am most excited about. AE As Drusus Caesar minted by Emperor Tiberius (Rome AD 23) Obv. DRVSVS CAESAR TI AVG F DIVI AVG N bare head of Drusus left Rv. PONTIF TRIBVN POTEST ITER around large S C Sear 1794 RIC (Tiberius) 45 10.92 grams 26mm I am using his photos since I haven't had a chance to take mine and he takes excellent photos. I am a big fan of the coins depicting family members and heirs. My next goal is Germanicus but until then I am absolutely giddy to have this coin and to hold it in my hands. I seriously enjoy the portrait. I guess, if I have to be nitpicky, the only problem is that Drusus' name is not on the coin.
Sucks the name isnt on it but the portrait makes up for it. I'd snatch it too if the price was right.
Thanks for the compliments. The portrait drew me in and I had to have it. He will be with me for a looong time.
Nice detail...it should develop a patina and darken with time too. Love the portrait, but the best bit for me is the lettering.
