Cool Roman Eugene. I did not know that you liked coins older than 1000 AD. Ben, very nice Rhodey. Funny I had been bidding on some raw Rhodies this week, but lost.
Very cool coin! It looks quite a bit like a few of the coins on this site: http://www.beastcoins.com/Byzantine/Heraclius/Heraclius.htm
Is it just me, or does the shape of Christ's face on this coin resemble a piece of toast? Surely this couldn't be a coincidence.

I was not intending to do so, but it seems I'm well on my way. I have the Pegasus, Stag, and Centaur. The centaur is relatively new as well. I just purchased an Antoninianus minted in the name of Postumus by Aureolus in 268 AD at Mediolanum, RIC V 388. The history behind this colorful Roman General and Usurper is very interesting. It will make a nice addition to my collection.
Picked up a few ancients at a thrift shop. I find that half the fun is identifying them and learning about the history. I had to photshop the pics. my original pics. were too dark. Heres the info. that I found, if there is anything wrong let me know. Year 351-355 AD. Rome DN Contantius PF AVG Bronze, AE 3 Mintmark P for primus, 1 RIC 121 And heres the original pictures in case anyone is interested. Still have a few more to ID.
Ok, after hours of research I finally identified another one. Year 194-195 A.D. Rome DCL SEPT ALBIN CAES Obverse, Clodius Albinus: Ceasear RIC 56B I heard it was rare but don't know if it really is. Again if anyone has any better info. or found out I'm wrong with some of the information. Please let me know.
Is it your coin? Hello Ruben, I normally recognize your coin photos. In this case, I'd like to ask if it is real & what is it?
my camera is temporarily not working, so i had to take scans... sorry about the bad quality, still learning how to get better scans. western han dynasty (136-119 b.c.) tang dynasty, chien yuan reign (758-762 a.d.) northern sung dynasty, tien sheng reign (1023-1031 a.d.)
Well its kind of an oxymoron when your newest acquisition is 1,662 years old. Here is Magnentius from 350 AD (Van Meter 28).
Not really a collector of Ancients but I do like them. Found a few used auction catalogs for a reasonable price.
