Grierson and Mays, Late Roman Coins, Catalogue of Late Roman Coins in the Dumbarton Oaks Collection and in the Whittemore Collection from Arcadius and Honorius to the Accession of Anastasius. A wonderful and thorough discussion. Far more than just pictures. The best book for 5th century Roman coins. Far more than a list. 1992, 499 pages, 37 plates illustrating 955 coins, large quarto, blue cloth, dust jacket. $100 on vcoins. Very fine with dustacket. Here $59 + $5 shipping. SOLD

Hahn, The Coins of the Eastern Roman mints of the 5th century (408-491) [my translation] in German, Die Ostpragung des Romischen Reiches im 5. Jahrhundert (408-491). but that hardly matters becaue it is mostly useful as plates of ALL types and tables giving dates. Moneta Imperii Romani Byzantini . Hardcover. Large format, slim. 74 pages, 15 plates (photos natural sized and many enlarged x2) and five 4-page foldout tables with the time periods of each issue. I could not find any other copies for sale. If you like 5th C. coins, this is the complete list for eastern mints (not Rome). [$150+$5 shipping]

Jenkins, Ancient Greek Coins, 1972 edition (by far the better of the two editions. I do not understand why they issued a second, much reduced and inferior, edition). 310 pages. 679 gorgeous coin photos. all coins discussed. Beautiful! [not on vcoins, $197 on Amazon. $125]
