He managed to dull the coins to a sellable state in under a year, by leaving them outside under cover......the oxidisation process was quite quick.&nbsp; I have heard you can rub a small amount of oil onto them and do the same and its even quicker. I choose not to overclean in the first place!</p><p>Of course you cannot get a 2000 year old patina any &#039;natural&#039; way.&nbsp; The closest I have seen is a Florentine patina, which uses two chemicals...but its not nice in hand and certainly not ethical if selling.</p><p>My dad and i have decided to leave a large pot in the ground containing a selection of 5kg world coins.......we will put a lid on and bury a good 2 feet plus down.
