Ancient Coin Hoard Found

    That's amazing! I'll bet they all end up in a museum.
    I have a mini hoard of these coins,probably the same types they found there.
    Had to dig deep into the catacombs to find these guys.They're as thin as communion
    wafers too!

    LOL Bone.
    Actually,all of these coins are way older than the time this hoard was buried.I think the article said 1000AD? and ours are 6-7th century.I suppose they might have still been circulating but that would be about as likely as us finding a George III sixpence in our change at the 7-11.

    lol... oldest foreign coin I've ever found in my change so far was a 1929 Canadian penny. Considering sixpences don't readily match the size of any of our coinage it would be unlikely enough to find an Elizabeth II sixpence. Did find a british penny once though.
