I have very much enjoyed looking at all of these animal coins. Thanks to everyone for posting their examples. I have to admit I have no examples myself. That is right, I have no animal coins. I do not think I can let this stand.

TRIGA were used in Greece and Etruria. In Etruscan racing, a third horse was used as a trace or guide horse for the inside of a turn. It may had been an older, more trained horse. It was not yolked. The Romans only rarely raced with a team of three.

I love that aes grave with boar! I wanted one very badly two years ago and it was my first big bid failure. Since that time there have been scores of failed bids :D.

Scores of failed bids I can relate to! Aes graves are very difficult to find online at reasonable prices (at least that is my opinion). I find the best deals at the coin shows.

I saw my failed-bid aes grave at a coin show last summer. The asking price was almost triple what it sold for the year before. I regret not bidding higher, although who knows what the winning bidder's max may have been.
