I have very much enjoyed looking at all of these animal coins. Thanks to everyone for posting their examples. I have to admit I have no examples myself. That is right, I have no animal coins. I do not think I can let this stand.
And... Last but not least: T - TRIGA (YES, they are HORSES, however, RR Trigas are pretty hard to find...I gottem both...) The Romans only rarely raced with a team of three.
Love all your coins Al. I have many of the RR coins you posted, but several I don't have as yet. You have made me hungry to shop for more.
Yeah, that is why, while TEMPTED with all of the Empire postings, I try to keep myself focused in the Republic...So many great coins out there!!!
... man, ya gotta love dem animal coins!! => everytime I score a new animal-coin, it's like snaggin' an Ides o' March!!
Dr Doolittle: Talk to the Animals!!! @TIF thanks for the thread. Great job. And, selfishly, you got me off my As to start attributing and photographing my collection! Thanks!

I love that aes grave with boar! I wanted one very badly two years ago and it was my first big bid failure. Since that time there have been scores of failed bids .
Scores of failed bids I can relate to! Aes graves are very difficult to find online at reasonable prices (at least that is my opinion). I find the best deals at the coin shows.
I saw my failed-bid aes grave at a coin show last summer. The asking price was almost triple what it sold for the year before. I regret not bidding higher, although who knows what the winning bidder's max may have been.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME Fellow Roma Res Publica coin-Dudette!!! Thanks for showing yours! LOVE Aes Grave!!! Agreed, hard to find online (at fair cost), but fun to find at shows!
So glad I joined Coin Talk, since I finally found someone else who likes Roma Res Publica coinage (there should be scores of collectors, since this stuff is awesome!). So nice to meet you!! Please continue to post your beauties.
AE-RR examples are awesome ... oh, and I agree that your sweet boar-boar example is amazingly sweet!! (I'm totally jealous of that baby!!) => and yah, CT ancients seem to be a pretty cool bunch at the moment (easy-going and super knowledgeable) ... ancientcoinguru, you are definitely a great addition (you rock)
