... there is a bit of easy info ... apparently Commodus wasn't exactly a Roman Rock-Star

=> if any of you have any good Commodus tid-bits, then please post 'em (it's very interesting stuff!!)

    Cheers brothers!!

Here's one I just bought. The seller had mis attributed it as a Marcus Aurelius, but the CoinTalk ancient gang set him straight. The reverse of this coin is worn into oblivion, but I liked the portrait.

    Commodus; 184 AD
    AE Sestertius, 28mm/22.6g
OBV: M COMMODVS ANTON AVG PIVS BRIT; Head laureate right
REV: VOTA SUSCEP DECEN P M TR P VIIII IMP VII COS IIII P P S-C; Commodus, togate, standing left sacrificing over a tripod.

Hey Mat. I am glad that one found a nice home. I recognised it as having once been mine straight away...

Nice coins everyone, and Jerry: be careful. Don't get a heat stroke out in that balmy weather.

Very close, my friend ... but there is still a wee bit of wiggle-room (maybe if you toss-in that Mustang of yours?)

I really like Randy's coin best but will show clubbers (one as, one denarius) since I no longer have that Roma. :smile

    re2580bb2015.jpg re2710bb0456.jpg

The denarius is the expanded version with extra implements. I'd really like to have a sestertius of that style.
