So who else buys coins they know nothing about? I bought this coin for what would be considered not a lot of money. I know next to nothing about this period in Indian history. What I do know is that at the time, the Indian sub-continent was not ruled by any major empire but rather multitude of smaller tribal kingdoms, many with there own divine history of origin. Generally described as the Rajput Dynasties, a series of states ruled by a warrior class, the "Rajputs" This coin is considered rare, but recently a few of these have entered the market place. I find the my quest to obtain at least on coin of all the distinct empires from antiquity, far more daunting then I initially expected. Although I am finding the market is at a place where one could obtain many rare silver coins from the sub-continent for not a lot of money. Many of these coins are extremely rare, miscataloged, poorly understood and severely understudied. I could find next to nothing regarding additional information about this coin an others like it. Maybe some of the "old timers" can share some light on these pieces. This piece toned black in color retains its original condition. From my understanding of the obverse figure it might be struck a bit high obscuring Lakshmi's nimbate. (?) Here's the description representing my own photos and dimensions. Chahamanas of Sakambhari The Rajput Dynasties in India AR Stater 17 mm x 4.11 g c. 1110-1125 AD Obverse: Four Armed Lakshmi seated facing. Reverse: Two Lines of Brahmi script-Sri Aja/Ya Deva ref: Mitichner NIS #456-457
