I recently purchased the reference library of a professional numismatist who passed from his family. He had over 3000+ numismatic books, pamphlets, auction catalogs, and reference books on related subjects such as archeology, ancient cultures, metallurgy, chemistry, and art. His focus was Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Oriental coinage, but he had a smattering of other areas as well. Before acquiring this library I had a small group of standard references, but now I realize how deep a reference library a professional maintained. Needless to say I am not going to keep all of these books, and if anyone is looking for some obscure reference, or particular auction catalog, I may have that book available. Unfortunately some of these volumes are written in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, and Arabic. I stand in awe of this man's knowledge of coins.
