I typically use PayPal for the convenience, but more importantly, I like having an extra layer of protection in case of a dispute (even with the reputable auction houses).

The good thing about having a trusted friend like @Severus Alexander run the auction is that for the first time ever I feel comfortable enough to send a check / wire transfer. That will mean I have 3% more to spend :greedy::greedy::greedy:

:nailbiting::nailbiting: I just placed a hefty (for me, anyways:greedy:) proxy bid on a coin in the list. It's a secret though which. :stop::doctor::smuggrin: I will tell you it's somewhere between #1 and #492. Do you prefer to Pre Bid or Proxy Bid?

    I can't wait until tomorrow!! :cool::D

I’m so nervous and excited at the same time. :nailbiting:

This is my first time participating in an auction like this. I’m expecting to be hammered, but I got my fingers crossed tight for a miracle! Lol

I am still pretty much confused how it works, - also my first time in an auction like this one. Have placed pre bids on coins that I really love, but I don't understand how the proxy bid nor pre bid and much less the live bid really work; hope I can win at least one of the coins:shy: or maybe all of them (?) :wideyed: That would be something :)

If you've bid on Ebay, proxy bid works similarly. You put in the max you want to bid up to, and the computer system bids for you in real time (not right now) during the auction only enough to win against other bids, only up to your max bid you put in. And this proxy bids take place electronically during the live auction as if you were doing it yourself.

Pre-bid acts similar to proxy bid, but it is taking place right away (right now before the official live auction starts and you see your bid on the site and others do too) AND it bids for you during the live auction as well up to your max (kind of like it transitions to a proxy bid when that coin comes to the auction block during the live auction).

Or you can tune in online (11am CST) and bid on each coin in real time as it comes up on the auction block (one at a time... 1, 2, 3, etc). Going going, gone!

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong (tbh, this is my first non-ebay auction).

Thank you very much @Justin Lee
I have never bid on Ebay  and as the FAQ section of biddr says
"the proxy bidder is not the winning bidder, if the maximum bid has been reached and was first bid by a competing bidder due to the alternating execution of a proxy bid" I can't tell if when this happens the proxy bidder can still increase a bid (or a proxy). So, to avoid any mistakes from my part, I will keep on bidding (up to my own self-set limit) and also tune in tomorrow to the live auction and see how it works.

Thought y'all might like to see this photo. I like how it turned out. :) Lots of CoinTalk coins here!

Supposing your max for your proxy bid was 70:
    coin starts at 50
    live bidder George: 50
    system executes your proxy: 55
    live bidder George: 60
    system executes your proxy: 65
    live bidder George: 70
    you: :arghh:

But you can always bid more during the live session, overriding your proxy bid max. To do that you just enter the live session (there's a button for that), and click "bid" when the option to bid 75 comes up on this coin.

    Good luck tomorrow!

Congrats again SA. Tomorrow will be fun. So nice to see an auction in cad. It would be cool to know the percentage of sold coins that went to CT'ers. I wonder how many people that don't frequent here will be intrigued by the exchange rate.
