Weighing 21 g., this bronze coin has merely an Elephant with a banner on obverse. Reverse has Arabic legend (Islamic) : Struck in .... Need some help. Thank you.
The overall style reminds me of coins from Mysore in India, though my very quick search didn't show an exact match. If not Mysore, then some other Princely State in India.
Yep, obviously, @Broucheion nailed it. The elephant is Indian (smaller ears, for one), and the calligraphy is no less so.
Yeah, I learned that in Thailand. Indian elephants have much smaller ears and the hump on the back of the head. Those are my main two tells between the species.
That is a double paisa from Mysore and issued under Tipu Sultan. There is a really good chance it is fake, unfortunately. Coins of Tipu Sultan are infamously forged, especially the double paisa...I dont have any double paisa, but I do have a paisa: Mysore: Tipu Sultan (1782-1799) AE Paisa, Farrukhyab Hisar (KM#63.1)
Mysore Tipu Sultan AE double paisa. Check this link to find a possible match: https://www.zeno.ru/search.php?searchid=517724 I do not have one with the flag above the elephant. Note: The first 5 or 6 coins you will see at that search link are mine.
