ANACS Old Holders - Opinions?

Currently I am bidding on 2 quarters on GreatCollections, both appearing that they could upgrade at least 2 points, and both in ANACS old green holders.

My question is, what is your opinion on them? Do you see a lot of undergraded coins in those holders?

    They're also toned. ;)

ANACS old green holders??? I didn't know ANACS had green holders.

But, I do have some old ANACS holdered coins, and I believe a couple of them could upgrade 1 point, but not likely 2.

In my experience, only the old soap bar ANACS slabs had a good chance at upgrading. Do you have a photo of one of these "green" holders?

    My biggest upgrade was a 1939 R40 Jefferson Nickel from ANACS MS64 5FS to NGC MS67 5FS.

    Wishful thinking?

Undergraded, overgraded, correctly graded all in those holders. I have no opinions of the coins without seeing them.

Those are usually referred to as "old soap bar" slabs.

The reverse hologram also has different dominant colors.
Here are the tones I have seen on the old soap box holders. The red/orange holograms have a brilliant green when turned right. The blue back is a details label.
    The gold label is ANA.

If we are talking about the "ANA" generation of Anacs small white holders, there are plenty of good coins in those. I would not expect many to be two points under (unless the market price between those grades is small, which can happen with Washington Quarters where an MS 64 and MS 66 have a fairly small difference in value). However, I would expect them to be nice for the grade.

Now if this is a later generation Anacs small white holder, there is a lot more variability in quality. I have seen some coins that are still nice for the grade but also quite a few that over graded.

I simply call those "old small holders", though I've also heard the "Soap Bar" term commonly used.
