I know people look down their nose at ANACS, I do too, but I took them up on the 2 free submissions. I had a couple that would be good to have in any plastic if only for the physical protection. The promotion worked because I sent in 3 and 1 of them needed variety/error attribution. Still just $47 including return shipping. I sent them: 1853 1/2 cent, planchet flaw or collar error (MS64RB?) 1921 $1 (AU58?) 1905 $2-1/2 gold (MS66?) I feel dumb even taking a crack at grades but we'll see. I'll post the results in a month or so when I get them back. What did you send and what are the grades you hope for?
I sent these 2 in to see if they would come back with straight low ball grades, not detail grades Just checked both are 12 and shipping today no bad
I have never personally submitted any coins for grading to any TPG. At what value do you personally choose to send Registered Mail verses Priority versus plain bubble mailer? If I am sending in 2-3 coins with a value less than $500 total, bubble mailer may be ok?
I sent in an 1846 large cent that is suspected was a proof strike. They ended up grading it PR-50. No matter anyway, I intended to crack it, just wanted to confirm my suspicions.
I sent them in a small priority box and no extra insurance. That way I get tracking but I hope without extra insurance it doesn't attract attention. It's a gamble but should be low risk. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.
I have a few 1911 $2 1/2 I sent to NGC hoping for a weak D, and they said no. Maybe ANACS will say yes! NGC DID take two submissions to get my last one as 1911-D.
I sent in some modern gold, toned silver and some interesting common peace/morgans. Hard to turn down two freebies.
I have been unable to set up an ANACS account and customer service inquiry to do so has resulted in NO REPLY. Curious to know if they will honor the free offer if you are not previously a registered customer. Seems to be a good way to gain more new customers.
So what does being an ANA member have to do with submitting to ANACS? The ANA doesn't use ANACS anymore, they use NGC and offer associate membership submission privileges to that TPG.
