It certainly is. Because of the large surface area it can be tough to find problem free ones. Even mine has some kind of stain at the top that NGC didn't have a problem with.

The Numismatist doesn't have room in their rag for articles by people outside of their elite clique, it appears. All the more loss for them! How did you submit your article? I submitted it to their editor. His email address is always in the magazine. Of course, it took about 6 months to get a response, but I'm still happy about it.
Google image search suggests the "bookmark" as the lid from a snuff box, or the sides of a pocketknife. The two pin holes on one side and one on the other does suggest something that rotates (like a blade) was attached, but this is two sides of a single piece, right? If it was the side of a pocketknife, the side no one can see would not be so ornate. I emailed the Numismatist years ago asking if they'd be interested in an article about a discovery I thought numismatists would be quite interested in, and never got a response. I was content to be published in the BCCS journal instead. Do they pay you for Reading Room articles? They pay $.15/word for the magazine articles.
