Thank you @TIF. Here is the Thread where I displayed all five of the AR Denominations from Populonia, Etruria... The AR As and the 5-Asses are very difficult to capture.

Some people like to stand back and admire all the different types of trees in a forest. Others like to microscopically examine the genetic variations the the 30 types of lichen that live within three millimeters of each other on a particular tree's bark.

Joe and I are in the former category, Doug's in the latter, but as Doug himself writes in the same post:
Growing up, I was always a bit wary whenever my parents started a sentence with the phrase "There's nothing wrong with your choice..." since invariably it was followed by the word "but..." ;-)

One of my greatest Mentors in my career FORBADE me from ever using "but" in my vocabulary. ALWAYS stop the sentence. Start another sentence, rather than using a "BUT". You literally can watch a person's expression DRAMATICALLY change when a first subject is expressed, then it being predicated with the second subject starting with "but".

Speaking of BUT, let me offer up an As...

TIF, it looks like you are collecting die varieties of the sewer coin. The reverses have interesting differences in step size and cippus shape. I like how RR coins have variations on one design.
PS - I had to google the definition of cippus. plural cippi \-ˌpī\ : a small low pillar usually inscribed and used in ancient Rome and Greece as a gravestone or landmark.

My wife and children tell me I use that word too often also.
I prefer the word as it applies to coins. See the three Graces coins -

I should agree and make it look like I'm a serious student of Roman Republican coinage, but the truth is I just love these Sewer Goddess coins and would happily buy many of them without regard to minor differences. Fortunately or unfortunately, my budget and length of my wish list will prevent that. :D

We have been treated yet again to two of the most beautiful ancient coins I've ever seen by our friend @AncientJoe. Thank you! I always look forward to seeing your new threads.

Now lets look at some ugly ducklings. I don't have too many cases of buying the same type coin but one of the below AE Valentinian I coins was a gift and the other I got in a lot.

I ended up giving the bottom example away to a YN and kept the top one (which was a gift from my parents). So in effect you could say I "downgraded". However the uglier coin means more to me and the bottom coin is still in a good home so it was a good downgrade :)

How appropriate that you posted these for this weekend - Patriots helmet facing the Eagles helmet, although the logos are a little off!
