I'm just referring to the people who are helping me out with giving me specifics. That's all. I am listening to what krispy and others say but I am more concerned right now in getting a few ideas on coin dates. I don't know why I'm getting such a hard time with some.. oh well.
I appreciate the kind words. The reason I don't work with Mike(Never dealt with him, just a friend) was a personal reason. Nothing related to coins or investing.
I think the hard time will end up protecting you from making too big of a mistake while the others offering coins dates and suggestions will guide you to the purchase you will enjoy and benefit from most.
I'm not knocking anyone, as I don't personally know most of the posters here, or how much they know. And neither do you. That's part of the problem in asking for, what amounts to investment advice, from them. Another major problem is that you don't sound as if you know nearly enough to recognize "the right deal" if you're ever presented with it. More than likely, you will think you're buying "the right deal", when in fact, you're buying a bad one. That's what the large majority of uninformed investors do. As just one question/example - if you get presented with two coins of the same date, mint, grade and grading company, and one of them costs 10% more than the other, how are you going to decide which, if either to buy? You currently have no way of knowing if the less expensive one is a much better deal or a much worse one.
I can tell you why - and you aren't getting a hard time. You are getting advice from people who have watched thousands of others in your position lose their shorts. Oddy enough, they were told the same things you are being told. They didn't listen either.
Oh, Heck! if one 3 legged is good, buy a couple more. I very seriously doubt any more are being dragged out of rolls. Jim
Well, i think that auction is only for one.. let's hope that I can get this at a good price. I am bidding currently at $700.. pray with me.. lol.
Are you speaking of the NGC XF45 example linked at the beginning of this thread? Either way, do you have an idea regarding what a fair price to pay is?
You may not like my advice, and it may sound overly blunt, but it is my honest opinion: You should not be buying coins. You don't have the requisite knowledge and will only lose money. If you want to invest in some type of coins, buy something that has bullion value (think Krugerrand or Maple Leaf) and buy it for as close to spot as you possibly can (i.e. less than 5% premium). All of the above is IMO...Mike p.s. if you must have a coin, send your $2k to Mark Feld and have him pick up a good key date.

Dude, honestly, just slow down. Step away from the cash pile. Take a few long breaths and reconsider this entire course of action, this thread is going to stand as a testament of "I told you so." but you still have time to avoid that scenario... what is the urgency?
