    Thank you.. the horse in reverse is rather worn but the obverse captured a nice portrait of Antinous wrapped in a nice dark green patina as well

    I don't know how I missed this post this morning.

    A very handsome portrait of Antinous. One of the best that I have seen.

    For those who may be interested, the British Museum published this book a few years ago which deals primarily with the life and works of Hadrian, but dedicates a whole chapter to Antinous. It has superb illustration and photos. A good read.

    Thank you. Although same sex relationships were commonplace back in classical times, the cult of Antinous was particularly lasting.

    Found a nice bust of Antinous as Dionysus to complement my medallion.. Must find a better background in the future.. haha
