An interesting depiction of Apollo

    Yes, but that's commonplace and not particularly noteworthy. Fortunately on the reverse it is minor. As for the obverse, it detracts but having a high grade portrait of Trebonianus Gallus wasn't important :).

    Maybe the griffin is a psychopomp (conveyor of souls)? It sometimes operated as one in Roman times. How Apollo fits in I don't know.
