    nope

    Very low

I think they would buy back any fake they sell. The auction sites tend to keep photos of everything they sell. If they refused to buy back a fake they sold, imagine the PR disaster if it made the public press...

A dealer almost got ripped off for $20000 for this counterfeit. No pics on the website. The only reason she didn’t get scammed is because another dealer recognized the name of the scammer. This was on Craigslist.

This is the danger of PCGS’ decision to not post pics of each coin they certify.

I can't believe a dealer of all people would buy a coin -- and an expensive one at that -- from Craigslist.

Type, the coin comes up as an AU55 in the PCGS Lookup....without pics, both the coin and the slab could be fake, right ?

“It was in a PCGS slab. It *has* to be genuine.”

Say people who are not yet aware that fake slabs are a thing.

    Both are fake.

I appreciate your effort alerting us to these scams, Type. I've learned alot.

Have you considered direct contact with the ANA or any professional association of coin dealers or even the U.S. Mint/Treasury to get their figures on how big the counterfeiting problem is ? Not sure your PowerPoint @ FUN mentioned this, but I got there about 5 minutes late, maybe your first few slides gave a number and I missed it.

Chinese counterfeit coins exist by the tens of millions in the market. Maybe more. The number of counterfeit slabs is unknown.

Yeah one of the many ridiculous comments in this thread...

She was a jewelry dealer with little experience in coins who was blindly trusting the PCGS slab.

It’s really funny how you write off all the info in this thread because of one word. It’s like you want to hide it for some reason. What could that reason be? Hmmm

    so petty

I am not “writing off all the info in this thread because of one word.” Actually I agree with a couple of good comments which were made. It’s just that many statements don’t mention a source to back them or just don’t make sense. Not sure what I am trying to “hide”. Again a baseless statement.

And the latest from today; seller has 7 "PCGS" slabbed Chinese "coins"... (genuine example on the right).
