    2. According to legend, Maroneia was founded by Maron, a son of Dionysus. Homer tells us Odysseus plundered the city, but spared Maron, who he identifies as a priest of Apollo. Maron thanks Odysseus with a gift of wine, for which the city was famous – the wine of Maroneia was esteemed throughout the ancient world.

    Here is a lovely little bronze with prancing horse and grape arbor. These types aren’t rare, but they’re seldom this attractive! Compare to retail here. $40
