Here’s a 1870-CC Liberty Seated Dollar graded by PCGS as a VG-10 with the green label. After owning her for 25 years I still love her. Makes me wonder if it would grade a little bit higher in today’s world. Not to be concerned as she will stay just as she is. A total of 11,758 were minted. Production on this type stopped in 1873 so the mintage is on the low side. She’s a sweet one and she worked for a living. Lol
Very wholesome circ. And a CC mintmarked Seated dollar, which is automatically desirable, regardless.
I think 12 is max. But I wouldn’t lose the old holder. Worth as much as tge upgrade. Would probably bean at least green as well. Any CC seated dollar is really tough and it actually has unmolested surfaces which is a rarity in seated dollars
A circulated 1870-CC Seated Dollar is just about the ultimate "cowboy coin". And you have a great piece!
Great looking coin that no doubt bought a lot of likker in the old West. I'd rather have that coin than my dipped VF.
Very nice and original coin! I have read that Carson City seated coinage tends to come weakly struck. If this is correct, I would grade your coin about F12. It is a nice coin regardless. I have an 1870CC too, this one which I about 30 years ago from a Bowers & Merena auction. It was described as VF30. This is what it looks like today.
