For the 1985-S and beyond they added the mintmark to the hub and master dies so they all have the same placement. The new mintmark is uniformly open and a little bit bigger looking.</p><p><br /></p><p>Also this series of proofs you prove to be great examples of the variance in the &quot;Cameo&quot; look which is more prevalent in the later years, as opposed to the 1960 proof you have, in which you can see it blends in with the background. Also, until 1967 when San Francisco started doing the Proofs, the 1960&#039;s Nickels seem a little less defined due to worn dies or poor strikes. The obverse of the 1960 Proof has that mushy look but the reverse is very well defined to the point that I must ask whether that is the reverse to that coin....if so, impeccable!
