...these things are similar to a yard sale. everyone thinks everything is worth a lot of money just because they are old and not circulating anymore.
It's all junk. Even the large cents, all but one of them have holes punched through them to be used as jewelery. The only thing they had that I'd consider adding to my collection was a really nice 1953 S Lincoln. But even that isn't worth much. Better luck next week, I suppose. Oh, and the Buffalo nickels, there's a lot of 36's and 37's. Didn't see any 3 leggers, though.
So was it a replica seated liberty dollar with the COPY stamp, or were they trying to sell it off as genuine? -LTB
Didn't have anywhere near the weight of a real coin, clearly just a fake. The guy at the counter didn't say **** about it, but I did find it strange that they kept it with a bunch of authentic 19th century coins. I asked them why they even bothered putting it in, since it's an obvious fake, and he said that wasn't his decision, and that he couldn't remove items from a lot once they had been photographed. The really shiny penny was fake too, as well as a couple other things in the box... just plastic-ish stuff. To clarify, I did not see a "COPY" on it, but it was a clear fake. Also, yes, I did drive out there.
lol figures, anything shiny in a box of old stuff.well.......LOL I just said the penny, because I already knew what everybody else was going to say.
