I'm just curious how this coin sold for so much at the NYC show. https://coins.ha.com/itm/mexico/mexico-republic-peso-1932-m-ms67-ngc-/a/3051-32297.s?type=NGC3051 It's top pop but there's 5 others.
Are you sure there's 5 others and none or are a resubmitt? Regardless that looks like the only one Heritage has sold and if there's only 6 and they don't come up for sale very often you have to pay up when they do
I don't think that's "so much" considering the condition rarity involved. How often do you see business strikes from the 1930's in MS-67? Let alone a larger sized silver coin.
All you need is two bidders to fight bitterly over the price. The highest bidder will be happy to pay top dollars.
You can get 67's for older Pesos, I was just shocked that for that date and variety you can buy MS66 for under $100.
That is a very high grade. Additionally, it is coming out of a really spectacular collection - I don't know if you've looked at the rest of the D. Moore Collection, but it is truly spectacular. There has been quite a bit of excitement for it.
Sure is pretty!! Is that a "flying liberty cap" or "ancient alien craft" on the obverse? I am officially jelly!
The "cap and rays" design is a classic motif on Mexican coinage. It's kind of like the eagle on American coinage.
