Alternatives to Verdi-Care? (Any other BD treatment tips also welcome)

    All copper salts can be correctly referred to as verdigris. It is not a scientific term but a colloquial one used to generalize the description of cupric corrosion.

    For coins like that it's a good choice. Verdigris like that is almost mineralized and very difficult to remove without destroying the coin. You just need to be careful and not oversoak or you'll lose detail. Looks like a great conservation!

    I figured since that coin was already worth nothing, and had a prior failed cleaning, it would be hard to make it any worse. Great experiment and a learning experience, and part the story of my love of lye.
