On the error reference website there is a list of alterations that fall into the non-error category. I had heard of a lot of these altered coins, for example spooned coins, added mint marks etc, etc... One listing though I had not heard of, Texas Coin. Anyone care to share what a Texas Coin is? Here is a link to the list.

As I understand it from other threads here, it's a coin that's hammered between two strips of leather. The leather protects the coin's surface features, but the pressure thins the coin and spreads it out. The final result is a more or less normal-looking coin that's larger in diameter.

There have been a few threads here on CoinTalk with people finding a Texas Cent thinking it is some kind of Mint Error. When explained that it is not some decide not to believe us

The Cent on the left is stripped of the plating and enlarged.
