The regnal year is year is mostly preceded by L with means ETOVC with means "of the year" http://bpmurphy.ancients.info/misc/rpcdates.htm
Sometimes, instead of one or two representing the year, it is abbreviated or spelled out entirely. In this case, ΔΕ is an an abbreviation of ΔEKATOY. I had forgotten this recently and in a PM to Okidoki insisted that a particular coin was unlisted, speculating that the delta epsilon meant year 9 (4 + 5)
Dear coin friends, a new type for Hadrian THRACE, Perinthus Reference. RPC 3, 712A; Pudill (GN 2015/77) Obv. ΑΥΤΟ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟС ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟС ΚΑΙСΑΡ СΕΒ ΓΕΡ Laureate bust right, drapery on left shoulder. Rev. ΠΕΡΙΝ ΘΙΩΝ Neptune/Poseidon standing, left, holding dolphin and trident, draped with chlamys. 9.95 gr 25 mm
Delta epsilon was very common for 9 from Antioch but Alexandria dodged using the unlucky number 9 by writing out the name of the number. Did anyone use delta epsilon other than Antioch?
