Another one of my Ancient coins... Alexander III, the Great! Macedonian Kingdom Alexander III the Great AE13 c.323-315 BC Cyprus-Salamis Facing gorgon at center of ornamented Macedonian shield (no legend) Macedonian helmet B | A Caduceus below 13mm Price 3158; Müller -- Another purchase that some have seen before... Can someone check my Attribution?
Tour attribution look right. I've seen this one before and I posted my Price 3162 which is only slightly different. The helmet on yours is outstanding
Thanks Bing I bought it because of the helmet... It was either a coin with an average of both sides or a coin with a great Helmet and a little worse shield... Well worth it IMO
What the heck. I might as well post my image as well. Alexander III AE Half Unit OBV: Gorgoneion in the center of a Macedonian shield REV: Macedonian helmet; caduceus and NK monogram flanking below (Struck under Nikokreon) Struck at Salamis, Cyprus, 323-315 BC 4.9g, 15mm Price 3162
Very nice coins. I'm not really into Greeks and only have one, but I want this type to be my next one if I ever get the Greek itch again.
I'll add this to your thread even though I posted it elsewhere. A coin issued by Alexander the Great's father...
=> great coin WC!! => I also have one of these babies (this coin is probably "my" thriftiest coin-purchase ... and yes, I admit that ain't sayin' much ... only $30, delivered)
