Cool chronological order! I particularly like the earlier (Kingdom) coins, but to me, they don't look like they have much circulation, but they don't look particularly well struck. What do you think, having them in-hand? The lions & the "2-headed chicken" are real nice, great features!

Hello. What could I say about an old Albanian coins? Well... At first - they're very nice. At second - they cause associations with antique coins. Paradox. Albania - is the poor country. But coins at them are magnificent.

The highlight of my Albanian collection is the 1927 100 Franga gold; cost me more than I care to admit, but gorgeous!

I feel your pain. Mine started as first a 'one from every country collection' (aka ofec) offshoot as well as a desire to buy gold when it was still cheap. I got a 100 FrA back in the day. Oh, and the other part is that on a certain message board the so called 'bare breasted ladies' coins were popular. I fought back with the 'nekkid dudes' (sovereigns were good for that too ;) ).

In any case, Albania was very early in the alphabet and I quickly learned that picking 'one' for the 'ofec', was impossible. An obsession was born. Didn't hurt that the Italians were designing gorgeous coins for them!

    Post a picture!
