Which would you choose...

I'd choose Peace...

Neither ... but i do like Peace better ... but i wil be a bit argumentative and go with Franklin

Neither... Why didn't I think of that... I'd Like the Peace Dollar Obverse, and the morgan reverse on a coin... But others say Morgan Obverse and Peace reverse, if you ask me the lady on the morgan obverse is a little chunky. lol

 

For the design I would choose the Morgan. For the ease of assembling a set I would certainly choose the Peace Dollar.

Yeah, the morgan is hard, with all the CC's and the Different Varieties of the first year..

But both sets are hard, if you get ALL the VAMS for each, THAT would be impossible

 

I have always loved both of them...but the Morgan Dollar is my all time favorite coin.

 

The morgan dollar is probably the most collected coin out of the U.S. coins, and maybe all coin collecting. They are a beautiful coins, but I gotta stick with my guns, my first love, the Peace Dollar

 

If the Peace dollars were better struck they would get my vote , as it is it's a toss up . like them both .

I prefer Morgans. I collect both, but for me the Peace dollar is by far much harder to assemble a nice set of than Morgans. Nice Morgans are everywhere. Nice Peace dollars....seem to be far and few between.

Yes you are right on that one.. Most of the MS63's and MS64's are very "crusty"

I agree with that. And Peace dollars are nice. But to me its no contest, Morgans are the better design.

Despite the fact that this thread keeps rearing it's ugly head, I will have to side with the Peace Dollar simply on aesthetic design. There is just no way that the reverse of the Morgan can compete with what I consider one of the best eagle designs ever. In terms of historical significance and overall collector options, I give the nod to the Morgan. With regards to toning, the Morgan is a clear winner.

This thread really needs a comparison photo. Here is the 1896 MS69 PCGS from the Jack Lee collection next to my common date MS66 Peace Dollar (all photos courtesy of Heritage). Maybe this will make it easier for folks to decide.
