After a protracted fight, got this from the Stack ANA sale: This is the 1982 5,000 Francs but struck in gold. Very rare as an essay, this is a "currency" strike which may be even more scarce; the last I have tracked and I watch this series was a Heritage 2009 auction at Baltimore (not the same coin, I checked). It was on my want list, so VERY happy. Interestingly, there may be an essai piece of the gold coin in gold but confusingly there is also an essai of the silver 5,000 francs struck in gold (KM- E14). I don't believe the NGC census on this one as it is slabbed NGC and not in their report and they then unbelievable numbers on both the silver and gold versions of this coin...
