When I was looking through my 1977 pennies(and I have more than 3 of them) I spotted I think a few 1963s. What should I be on the look out for?
Here are a few things: 1963-D RPM http://varietyvista.com/02b LC RPMs Vol 2/RPMs 1963D.htm 1963-P/D DDO http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1963.htm http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1963-D.htm 1963-P/D DDR: http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDR 1963.htm http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDR 1963-D.htm 1977-D DDO http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1977-D.htm
I had issues getting proper angles to show finer details of this coin. I dont know where my other 63 penny is. I can post more pictures of them. I have a difficult time getting a good pic of the FG. Its harder to see, cant tell if its wide or close.
Very nice looking penny for it's age. Think about it. They were still filming the Andy Griffith show when this coin was minted. I'd keep it.
Put it in a coin holder flip. Since its shiner than other copper pennies I own, what is it valued? 10? 20? 30 USD? Is it worth it to have it graded?
It's a dime a dozen coin. It absolutely is not worth sending in. I suggest you get a Redbook so you can get an idea about what coins are valued at. Shiny and looks in good condition just don't cut it.
I have a $50 bag of 63D. I am halfway thru it and still don't think I have a coin that I would send to be graded.
I have never graded a coin, But each of these coins are gonna cost you 10 to 20 to grade each. That is all the profit when you go to sell. Try https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts
Online sources are fine, but you have to learn how to grade. Grade is everything! The coin you have is plentiful and quite frankly is worth way less than a dollar.
