    Hello folks,

Fairly new to ancients but I purchased a few small lots in an recent estate auction so I have a few coins to post and a bit of research to do. Really liking the following coin. Could you guys/gals tell me if it a common type and is it in decent collectable condition?

    Thanks,
    Joe2007

Edit - On the flip I got it in it says AE25. Is that the size?

I don't see anything wrong here. Ancients can be lots of fun and you can touch your coins! A tip to help with attribution, if you can you should post size and weight. Check out http://ptolemybronze.com to learn more these. I have a small Ptolemy in worse condition but I only paid $0.99 for it.

    Nice Ptolemy

Some of those Ptolemies can get pretty big! Here is one of my AE Tet compared to a Silver Obol:

AE means bronze/copper coin. 25 is the size - 25mm across

    AR - silver AU-gold

There are millions of Zeus/eagle(s) bronzes in a wide range of sizes, styles and conditions. Yours is very average. The small flan losing some legend is IMHO its greatest shortcoming but it is off center in the preferable direction. Losing the nose of Zeus or eagle heads would be a lot worse. Below is the closest I have. You can find your coin's best match using the link Jwt708 provided above or this page it leads to:
