I asked Gemini what would be the cheapest way to get 2026 Lincoln cents, this was its reply. Any thoughts on this? ============== 2. The Absolute Lowest Price: Secondary Market (eBay/Coin Shops) Once these sets ship in late June/early July, many dealers will "break" the sets and sell the pennies individually. This will likely be the cheapest overall method if you only want the cent and not the full set. Estimated Cost: While presale prices on eBay are currently high (often $10–$20+ for a single coin), history suggests that once the initial "hype" dies down after the June release, you can expect single uncirculated pennies to settle into the $5 to $12 range. Strategy: Wait until mid-July 2026. This is when the market will be flooded with "break-ups" from the official sets, driving the individual price per coin to its lowest point.
I guess for what it's worth, I did a quick check of Lincoln cents vs the 190,000 each P and D in the semi Q set. 1909 s 309,000 in MS 63 sell at $1300 (no pf's) and the 1931 s 866,000 in MS 63 sell at $200. Just my opinion but at $5-$12 range sign me up!
The only way to get the Lincoln Cent 2026 coins is to purchase them from the US Mint in uncirculated sets. Since it’s not a circulating coin, it’s considered not necessary to complete a set. Even if I got down to five dollars a coin I’m still not interested. It’s a thin piece of zinc with a thin copper coating that’s only worth one cent. I can think of lot better ways to spend $5 to $12. A good way to spend 12 bucks is to buy two silver 1964 dimes. By the end of the year those two dimes will be worth more than the 2026 Lincoln cents will ever be worth.
