I'm just teasing you, but my point was if you think you have a deal, dont post it until you have the coins in hand. There are people out there who will stab you in the back.
I know others have commented on this already...but I hope you realize this is not a mint set. Just because it is a set produced by the mint...does not mean it's a "mint set." The initial confusion in the thread was caused by this.
yeah that is sorta what I had figured. Just wanted to be sure. I did not want to purchase the set until I had known it was an accented hair as I have not dealt with this variety yet.
I thought that, perhaps, he was confusing mint with condition, but either way is another fine example of the benefits of learning, especially if he wishes to portray himself as a dealer.
1964 Mint Set: 10 uncirculated coins (half, quarter, dime, nickel, and cent from Philly and Denver) 1964 Proof Set: 5 proof coins (half, quarter, dime, nickel, and cent) The accented hair variety is found only in the proof set.
A mint set is a very specific type of set that is sold by the US mint. This is a proof set. A "Mint Set" and a "Proof Set" are different products. Basically, a mint set is a collector set of the coins from the circulation mints. They are normal business strike coins sold specifically to collectors. They are made in the exact same way as the coins that are placed in circulation. A proof set is a set of proof coins. Proof coins are made in a different way than business strike coins.
So to say it is a 1964 Proof Mint set or 1964 Mint Proof set would be incorrect terminology unless the "mint" was referring to the condition of the set?
Calling this a mint set in anyway is wrong. This is a proof set...by using the word "mint" to describe it in anyway only leads to confusing it with a very different type of set.
It's a PROOF SET, Josh, as opposed to a MINT SET which contains business type coins. If you feel the need to use the word "mint", simply avoid using it in a way that could cause confusion.
Ok thanks I appreciate it. Same to you Camaro. Once I receive the coin would you recommend getting it certified? How much would you say it is worth? I want to learn everything there is about these accented hair halves
ebay, what happen to the one from craigslist, thats the 1 I'm talking about, not some coin from ebay, boy has this thread been very miss-leading, thats for sure
Yep! There it is! My bad! However, I would not buy the Craigslist Set either since the seller is picturing two different sets and I expect that since there's no mention of an accented hair, yet one is clearly pictured (note the set medallion is on the right with the AH) that a bait and switch will occur and Josh will NOT receive a Proof Set with an Accented Hair Kennedy. He'll possibly receive the set with the medallion to the left of the upright Kennedy which is not an Accented Hair.
