Looks different. Is it because of wear? Seems weird that it goes back that far.

 

Yet another.

 

There was a 1952P die that has a great die break in the head. It looks like a lamimation when you first look at it but it's not-it's raised metal. I found several of them on ebay (mis-classified as laminations) for a dollar.

 

Wonderful. Did you buy them?

 

Sure. Can't beat something like that for a dollar. And then there's the irony of Abe's head breaking apart on the die. That dude had a tough life.

 

this one is from a small die chip , the others are from a over abraided die where part of the neck and hair details was removed from the die .
