True words, about things not 'as they seem'...but this (my side) IS the ONLY side of the story.

The Forum WAS directly responsible for the originating of the deal, not the classifieds, which is why I brought it here, because it originated here, and I asked questions here. It all started because I simply replied to a thread, and the other party was interested, asked if I was interested in selling, and thats how it all came down...nothing more, nothing less (I'd guess it's pretty simple to find out with the search feature....). There really is only one side...true, they SAY there are two sides, but in this case, it's pretty cut and dry. But, simply because of an intent to warn others, it's bad form to out? I'd want to know who renegs on deals...I'd stay clear of anyone who renegs on a deal after they initiate it, especially where I did NOT put them on the classifieds.

Well, Numis a deal is a deal. You made the deal Monday, its only Wednsday. I would assume everything is OK. If you do not hear from him by Friday... then I might start getted PO'ed.

What I was trying to say is that Forum Rule 3A says

A - Offers to buy, sell or trade by individuals and/or dealers are not permitted in any way, shape or form in threads and/or posts. If you wish to make such an offer, contact the other party by Private Message or email.

    Read more: http://www.cointalk.com/showthread.php?t=34131

So any transaction should not have originated within a thread, post, etc. UNLESS it was a classified listing, and since it wasn't, then any "outing" would not be proper in a forum thread such as this. Settlement, discussions, "outing" should be done by PM or email. You can ask that interested people contact you by email or PM if you wish to reply similarly, but no names in a posting or thread please.

    Thanks
    Jim

Here is a case where I would say to use eBay's guidelines. For the window for payment, the proper time frame for notifications and responses, and lastly, when to open up a claim against your party. (Which would be your "outing"). Be reasonable through out and people will be understanding of your actions. Rushing the results or inadequate follow up will put your actions in question. Then part of the blame may end up being shared.

I will toss my opinion on here..

The PM bar at the top doesn't jump out at you. I have to remember to check it. So as others have suggested, time may be the thing. However with a silver trade I'd want to execute it as a buyer or seller asap because of the volatility of the price currently.

    Just my 2 cents..

I think this is probably the most shallow thread I have read in awhile... Really? You are going to start a thread threatening to tarnish the reputation of a fellow member, purely for the sake of attempting to coerce them back into the deal? Wow! I believe this thread will only back fire on you. I might be weary doing business with this person you haven't named at least to the point of seeing the money, before considering the deal solid with him, but due to your tactics I would NEVER want to do any business with YOU on the buying or selling end of things.

This thread should be deleted by the mods IMO.

I hope the issue is maturely (is that a word?), swiftly and professionally resolved for both parties. :)

I said the same thing to myself. Who is this thread actually for? Forum members or the other person involved in the dispute? Trying not to interject another element into it, I chose not to bring this up. Once said however, well.....

And if you sold this silver today, and since silver is higher today than it was on Monday, then has the person not done you a favor instead of a disservice ? By this person not contacting you it seems that you can get a better price right now than you could have on Monday. So there is no loss but instead a gain.

Don't know about you, but if it were me I'd be saying thanks instead of complaining.

I can't believe there is even a thread about this. How would even mentioning in here even remotely solve anything? You may be upset, and it seems more like a revenge issue because the other guy didn't follow through.
Life is too short to let these kind of things bother you.

Looking at it another way, he got the PP account info of another member; could it be used for identity theft ?

I wouldn't go there eddie. Stick with facts not possibilities. Everything anyone does COULD be for other reasons. As of now, I think both parties are gentlemen about the situation and we want to keep it this way.

That's the problem I have, though I don't THINK there can be any fallout from just a PP address. The member has been here for awhile. Notice I have NOT named him, and ASKED about the etiquette in my first post. I guess those detractors glossed over this fact.

For those of you that think this is a shallow thread, or one that should be locked, I guess you really don't care who you deal with, or the history of past dealings with certain members. As this member has been around for awhile, I certainly never expected him to simply walk away, but after giving him my PP address, and still not having heard from him, it's disconcerting...and there are some that think this is being silly? Those that do must be the type that think that buying raw coins from ebay is safe and without worry, and be happy with them.

This was SUPPOSED to be a deal DONE on Monday for Tuesday shipping, plain and simple.

As far as it being 'silver', there's more to it than 'it just being 90% silver', though the member was getting a good deal, and he realizes it, due to the thread content surrounding the items. I was also TRYING to help him attain ANOTHER coin he wanted that I have multiples of, that he doesn't have. Serves me right for trying to be a decent person and cut someone a break.

I THOUGHT we were here to help each other out, whether it be in the form of giving advice/opinions on something, and also selling at fair-good prices to other forum members, or giving advice as to who has been stand-up sellers/buyers, or to advise who doesn't follow through with a deal that was consummated. For all you who think this thread is garbage, I'll pass those sentiments along to the many that have PM'ed me for the members name. Apparently, there ARE those that DO like to know who can be trusted and who can't.

To gbroke...I'm not trying to 'solve' anything, as the deal is dead in my eyes, and I'm not trying to get any revenge, but, rather, give a heads up...and you find that wrong? I'm trying to do a service to others, in that when you give your word and make a deal, it should be sen through. You are only as good as your word, but I guess you detractors can't see that point.

Thank you, saltysam. Through this whole thread (AND with the now dead deal), I HAVE tried to be a gentleman. You all will notice I didn't just come out and say 'Joe Schmoe stiffed me on a deal'. I asked opinions on what I should do. I thought this forum was for just that. Those that have taken it to the next level and think I'm being 'silly', 'shallow', or 'want 'revenge', I wouldn't want to deal with you either. I'm trying to HELP others by giving notice that this has happened. We are a COMMUNITY, and when you can't trust other community members, you don't see that as a problem? You'd want to waste your time with someone like that? Personally, when I make a deal, I would never just walk away and not, at the very least, send a PM and say, 'sorry, I can't do it now', or 'I decided against it'. It only takes a moment, and would have prevented a thread just like this. Remember, I wasn't the one to initiate the transaction.

edited to add...the other party hasn't replied to this thread, though has been here since he stiffed me.

If I have acted in any other way than gentlemanly (angered, ticked, well, yes), then someone show me where I have.

The deal is dead. Bite your tongue, swallow your pride, and move on. You'l be the bigger man for it.

Very valid point. But my whole basis for this thread is that someone that has a good rep out here has the gall to initiate a deal, validate it, confirm it, then disappear without so much as a 'sorry, can't do it now'. I understand things come up, but all it takes to stay in good standings is a bit of communication. You don't get someone's PP addy, confirm a payment will be sent, allow someone to package material up and get it ready to ship, just needing a name and address to get it out, and just disappear. My time is my time, and it's just as valuable as any of yours....I wasted my time not just getting this package ready, but wasted my time trying to give someone a good deal. Lesson learned.

Hence my statement it IS dead....but for those of you who DO care to know, PM me....I think you'd be surprised at who did the stiffing. My motive is simply that of someone trying to share some knowledge (help someone possibly avoid this saAme scenario) about how a certain member renegs on a deal. I see nothing wrong with that.

You seem to be trying very hard to do a service to others that they don't want any part of.

Well, by the PM's I've gotten, you seem to be in the minority.
