Thanks again, everybody, for posting your coins of Nerva. All are great examples of the coin of this emperor!
@PMONNEY I would like to see the reverses of the coins you show. Sometimes it's the reverses that make a coin special.
No disappointment. Like I said, the reverses are just as important especially for attribution and date
I also happen to have a didrachm with an interesting portrait. It depicts Eleutheria on the reverse. Also attached my first ever Nerva.... Frans
I've posted this before, but I love it so I'll post again. It appears to be a barbarian imitation of a Nerva, which is quite unusual. I chose my screen name because there was a Republican monneyer called Nerva, as well as an emperor; I'm not particularly a specialist. But I also like his portrait a lot, and I'm keen to get more of his coins. The right ones haven't come along yet, but I have my eye on a couple in September sales. Fingers crossed!
Since this old thread has been brought up I'll post my other sestertius of Nerva. This one bearing LIBERTAS PVBLICA on reverse, and with a deep jade patina. It is, however, the style of the bust which I find most interesting:
I just have this one of Nerva-got it from Roma a while ago.
