Naturally I talked about the Widow’s Offering and the coins that are marketed as such today. I was encouraged by the enthusiasm and interest of the members of the group who were senior citizens for the most part. I was prepared for the questions about authenticity so I was ready with my documents from the various VCoins dealers and Export Licenses from the Israel Antiquities Authority. All of that was unnecessary because none of the members of the class questioned their authenticity. The fact is that many of the folks were jaw-droppingly amazed that they were holding a two thousand year old coin. I forgot to mention that I presented each and every member of the class a gift bag containing two ancient Judaean coins for them to keep. Anyway, we covered the Scripture about the Widow briefly but the seniors were more interested in ancient coin collecting in general. They were so interested that I had some trouble leaving the classroom. They surrounded me and wanted to continue talking about ancient coins, museums, and archeology. They’re wonderful folks and I love them dearly!
