Very nice coin!

 

Yeah, I guess it's time.

First I'd like to address why I asked Steve (asciibaron ) what he used as a grading guide as his paramaters were a bit different than what I have in my ANA guide. For an AU50 coin mine says "traces of wear show on the curls and hair above forehead".

Second, clembo needs to invest in a decent camera. The coin retains a great deal of luster and detail. Flatbed scanner just don't get it.

Oh, and the grade - looks like Kiwi wins. It is AU50 and I DO agree with it.
I bought it online from a guy in Ohio and loved it the minute I opened up the package. Sweet coin and a welcome addition to the 3 Cent Nickel set. Next up is an 1884.

I honestly believe this coin would cross over VERY nicely to PCGS or NGC.

Now, I gotta get a camera for less than a gazillion dollars.
