The light hits the <b>inside</b> of the scratches on the side away from the light source. The side of the scratch nearer the light is in shadow, but is also just a little brighter than the fields. </p><p><br /></p><p>I no longer think they are raised. </p><p><br /></p><p>The line that crosses the bright lines (it’s between the pair of lines at the left) now is obviously the same width as the other incuse lines. It seems likely it happened at the same event, with the underneath scratches made first and the darker one a moment later.
