I have gone through alot of the same thoughts myself about collecting and the rest of my family. My love for collecting has come back to me. A big portion of this had to do with getting my kids educated to get them get started in life with none incurring any debt doing it. I'm not bragging, but we did accomplish this. It is a little different for me because I'm way too old to have kids as young as I do. But we all survived, and all doing well.

One of the fondest memories I have my children brought it up to me recently how they all remembered this thinking it was so much fun. I bought three Whitman Folders, one for each and about a ton of quarters. My wife and I would empty 2 or 3 rolls on the kitchen table and we would reroll them after they looked through them. Each time they found one they needed they would raise there hand, and everyone else would clap for them. It was not by mint, only by state. We still have all those folders.

My two sons do still have an interest in this hobby, but are just too busy with life in general for this I think. This happens frequently with other things, but as life settles down people come back to lots of things they were exposed to earlier in their young lives. Sometimes they also don't and this is okay. My daughter will never be coin collector, but does truly love that Whitman folder.

My collection will never be a six figure collection, but the whole family enjoys it. My wife supports me 100%. She looks at it as something of value rather than just blowing money. When I depart what happens to the coins we have I could care less.

I will close this stating I have been quite surprised after several years of being absent what the vast majority of coins we have are priced compared to when I bought them. Sometime I will tell you one of our collections I am most proud of and what I'm working on now.

My grandson was born in 2019 and I had to get him a US set, TWO (two emperors that year) Japanese sets and I put together an India set.
