WOW That is an amazing amazing coin! I never even thought that such a pristine example of a coin that old existed outside of a museam! Aboslutely stunning, thanks for sharing!!!
[Thankfully,] IMO I would think that the majority of the finest U.S. specimens exist outside of [public U.S.] museums. Another forum member was kind enough to post some exhibit images of his recent visit to the Smithsonian. As you can see, this [public] museum doesn't seem to have mounted the specimens in a very appropriate way, and the displays themselves are not very flattering, considering the importance of the specimens. Spectacular coin. Far more valuable and scarce than anything I could ever hope to have in my collection.
The Large Cent is by far the most beautiful and fun to collect coin in our history. That coin is to good for words wow.
Sheez It's a real nice penny and all but I don't think I'll ever own a Large Cent like that one!! Just so nice!
same here duke. i love them, but to much $$ for me. if i ever spent close to that, i think you may hear about me being murdered by my girl... she actually gets mad if i spend more then $20. she flipped when i spent $100. but its ok for her to pay $50 a month to sit in a bed with lights all around, plus $50 for tanning lotion! i think i am going to get an old refrigerator box and put some light bulbs in it. then i will keep refilling her empty lotion bottles with dollar store brand. maybe after a few years i can afford a coin like that! well maybe, i will need to put us including the dog on a diet..
